The "Eucalypt Villas" in Paradise Point, Gold Coast for LJNgroup in association with Studio Workshop Architects + Associates and Jasper Brown Architects. An existing stand of mature native eucalypts on site has inspired our collaborators' approach to the building envelope. Atelier Designa + IIIIC Architecture Studio help and assist with the computational Design part. Testing design options through colour gradients and forms to achieve the best result. The facade protects the lengthy exposed east and west sides of the building using a combination of fixed and sliding screens. Both the colour and density of the screening fins vary, giving an emerging and dynamic quality to the identity of the building that will be customised by occupant use. The apartments provide expansive views of the nearby ocean and hinterland, enhanced with generous outdoor terrace space, daylight, natural ventilation and visual privacy. We are excitedly anticipating development approval. The design-led development clients created a great opportunity here for a unique outcome.
